The Crate House.
A Design for Innovation project in alignment with The Urban Dream Brokerage (UDB) required an individual report expressing an innovative way to fill an empty retail space.

The UDB facilitates the use of vacant retail space in Wellington and Dunedin for artists, designers, businesses, community groups and social entrepreneurs. The UDB revitalises vacant retail space by filling them with projects that interact with the public. Strong public impact is the vision for UDB projects in an attempt to revitalise and change the city.

The Crate House utilises the space through upcycled timber palettes and beer crates that have been transformed into everyday interior and exterior household items.

The aim of the space is to inspire individuals for their own households by displaying a diverse set of rustic, crafty and handmade items. Each item has an instruction brochure explaining how that item was made so that people can DIY at home.
